Run an airport-style departures and arrivals board on Windows, macOS, Linux, or Raspberry Pi, then extend it to LAN screens, phones, radar, history, and LED matrix panels without signing into a display platform.

Downloads come directly from the official Local Flight GitHub Releases page. A direct button appears only when that exact package and its matching SHA256 checksum are both present. macOS packages are Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple; never disable Gatekeeper. The Windows 0.5.2 installer is not publisher-signed, so Windows may show an “Unknown publisher” warning.

Ways to run it

Start with where the board should appear.

The same Local Flight host can drive a desktop window, LAN browser screens, phone apps, and LED matrix boards.

Desktop

Use the packaged Windows, macOS, or Linux app for the main flight board, local server, browser access, phone pairing, and LED matrix setup from one install.

Linux server

Run Local Flight in the background on an Ubuntu or Debian machine and open setup, the board, radar, and controls from browsers on your network.

Raspberry Pi

Run a small always-on display box as a headless server, HDMI kiosk, or browser kiosk for a dedicated board screen.

Mobile

The mobile app supports Companion for a paired desktop, Linux, or Pi server; encrypted Remote Companion fallback away from LAN; and Standalone for a simpler phone-only board through the shared Beacon Tools relay. Version 0.5.2 is in TestFlight and Google Play testing.

What it can show

A practical board for arrivals, departures, and nearby traffic.

  • Guided setup for the shared Local Flight relay, your own aviation data keys, or VATSIM-only virtual traffic.
  • Airport-style departure and arrival boards with local time, weather, gates and status when available, codeshares, pinned flights, and several visual styles.
  • A radar view for real or virtual nearby traffic, with a synchronized sweep-and-fade display, weather context, range controls, runway/map detail, and dismissible aircraft information.
  • VATSIM display mode for virtual-network boards, focused on callsigns, aircraft, routes, altitude, speed, and source freshness while avoiding pilot/controller personal identifiers.
  • History pages for recent movements, board patterns, filters, and local records kept on your own machine.
  • Phone pairing, LED matrix preview, generated matrix display files, local logs, settings, and consent-based diagnostics.

What it does

The service keeps shared aviation data keys off your device, reuses recent airport boards, spaces out updates fairly, and can connect a paired phone while you are away from home.
